Bericht über die Bedeutung, Entwicklung und Struktur der österreichischen Tourismus- und Freizeitwirtschaft im Jahr 2017

Abstract

Auf Basis des Konzeptes eines Tourismussatellitenkontos (TSA) erreichten die Tourismusaufwendungen von in- und ausländischen Reisenden in Österreich 2017 41,64 Mrd. € (Schätzung; +3,6% gegenüber 2016). Die sich daraus ergebenden direkten und indirekten Wertschöpfungseffekte von 32,25 Mrd. € (+3,3%) trugen 8,7% zum BIP bei. Zusammen mit den Effekten des nichttouristischen Freizeitkonsums der Inländer und Inländerinnen am Wohnort erwirtschaftete die heimische Tourismus- und Freizeitwirtschaft 2017 direkt und indirekt 58,82 Mrd. € (+4,2%), ihr Beitrag zum BIP machte rund 15,9% aus (2016: 16,0%). Zudem generierte die Nachfrage der Tourismus- und Freizeitwirtschaft mit rund 719.300 Erwerbstätigen (Vollzeitäquivalente, direkt und indirekt) fast ein Fünftel der Gesamtbeschäftigung. Österreichs Tourismusexporte wuchsen 2017 real nur schwach (+0,8%, 2016 +1,1%), der Binnenreiseverkehr stagnierte (real +0,2%), nachdem 2016 eine Steigerung um 1,9% verzeichnet worden war. Die preisbereinigten Gesamteinnahmen aus dem Tourismus stiegen 2017 um 0,7% (2016 +1,3%). Im internationalen Vergleich (EU 28) lag Österreich gemessen an den nominellen Tourismusexporten 2017 mit einem Marktanteil von 5,0% (2016: 5,1%) unverändert auf Rang 6. Im Durchschnitt der letzten fünf Jahre blieb das Gewicht annähernd konstant und war deutlich niedriger als 2009 (5,5%, Tiefstwert 2000: 4,8%).
