Organisatorische Rahmenbedingungen für die Entstehung und Nachhaltigkeit wissenschaftlicher Qualität an Österreichs Universitäten

Abstract

Die Forschungsleistung der österreichischen Universitäten zählt nur in einzelnen Bereichen zur internationalen Spitze. Vor diesem Hintergrund untersucht diese Studie die Frage, ob Österreichs Universitäten organisatorische Rahmenbedingungen bieten, die die Qualität der wissenschaftlichen Forschung optimal unterstützen. Wie die Analyse mittels Fragebogen und Literatursurvey zeigt, sind insbesondere die Organisation der Arbeitsbedingungen für junge Assistenzprofessorinnen und Assistenzprofessoren und deren Rekrutierung für wissenschaftliche Qualität zentral sind. Wesentliche Elemente sind weiters die Rekrutierung von Doktoratsstudierenden, die Organisation des Doktoratsstudiums und der Forschung etablierter Forscherinnen und Forscher sowie die Undergraduate-Ausbildung. In all diesen Bereichen stimmen Österreichs Universitäten nicht oder nur teilweise mit der internationalen Best Practice überein.
