Förderung des Breitensports in Österreich

Abstract

Durch eine weitere Ausdehnung des allgemeinen sportlichen Engagements kann ein positiver gesellschaftlicher Nettonutzen realisiert werden. Dies und verteilungspolitische Erwägungen – aufgrund der ungleichen Einkommensverteilung haben nicht alle Interessierten gleichen Zugang zu den Breitensportangeboten – sprechen für staatliche Eingriffe. Eine öffentliche Förderung des Breitensports sollte verstärkt direkt die Anbieter von Breitensportaktivitäten (Sportvereine, ehrenamtlich Tätige sowie Unternehmen) sowie mögliche Geldgeber für ihre Finanzierung berücksichtigen, um nicht nur ein preisgünstiges, sondern vor allem auch ein qualitativ hochwertiges und zunehmend professionalisiertes Breitensportangebot sicherzustellen, das auch soziale Gruppen mit einer geringen Neigung zu sportlichem Engagement anspricht und keine Zugangsbarrieren aufweist sowie den aktuellen Entwicklungen in der Sportausübung Rechnung trägt.
