Abstract

Die internationale Forschung zur Nachhaltigkeit im Konsum umfasst eine breite Palette verschiedenster Ansätze zur Analyse der weitreichenden ökologischen (und auch sozialen) Effekte des privaten Konsumverhaltens. Sowohl die theoretischen als auch die umsetzungsorientierten Arbeiten betonen insbesondere die Notwendigkeit einer Umorientierung der Nachfragestrukturen. Der Einbindung in empirische ökonomische Modelle und der Schätzung der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Effekte einer solchen Strukturveränderung wurde jedoch bisher wenig Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Die Durchführung einer entsprechenden empirischen Studie für Österreich ist somit ein wichtiger Schritt in Hinblick auf die Integration nachhaltiger Konsumstrukturen in ein ökonomisches Modell und auch im internationalen Vergleich Neuland.
