Prognose für 2008 und 2009: Wirtschaftswachstum verlangsamt sich

Abstract

Das Wachstum der österreichischen Wirtschaft schwächt sich von real 3,4% im Jahr 2007 auf 2,2% im Jahr 2008 ab. Ein erster Ausblick auf das Jahr 2009 lässt eine Rate von etwa +2% erwarten. Dies geht überwiegend auf eine Verschlechterung der internationalen Rahmenbedingungen – den Konjunktureinbruch in den USA, die Krise auf den Finanzmärkten sowie die Aufwertung des Euro – zurück. Zudem verlangsamt sich in Österreich die Ausweitung der Investitionen, und der private Konsum kann aufgrund der geringen Steigerung der Realeinkommen keine tragende Rolle für die Konjunktur übernehmen. Dazu trägt auch die markante Erhöhung der Inflationsrate bei – sie erreicht im Jahr 2008 2,6%. Aufgrund der Verlangsamung des Wirtschaftswachstums verharrt die Arbeitslosenquote bei 6¼% der Erwerbspersonen (bzw. 4¼% laut Eurostat).
