Abstract

La década del 90 se caracterizó por una revolución en la productividad de las economías de mercado de la mano de la revolución en la informática, las telecomunicaciones y los avances científicos aplicados a la organización productiva. Durante una buena parte de esa década la Argentina exhibió altas tasas de crecimiento, aunque las dificultades económicas que enfrentó el país sobre el final de los 90 abrieron dudas sobre cuán lejos habíamos llegado en términos de mejoras productivas y aumento de competitividad. Este libro busca dar respuesta a esas dudas buceando en las fuentes del crecimiento local, con una metodología que sitúa el fenómeno de la productividad en el nivel de las empresas individuales e identifica el crecimiento como la conjunción de inversión, mayor empleo y calificación, y un conjunto de acciones empresarias orientadas a reducir los costos reales de producción a cada paso. Conforman la base de este estudio las trescientas empresas más grandes de la Argentina más un conjunto de pequeñas y medianas empresas.
