Abstract

En Latinoamérica, el crimen y la violencia acaparan los titulares de los periódicos, las palabras de los políticos y las angustias de los ciudadanos. En esta región, 140.000 personas son asesinadas cada año y una de cada tres familias es víctima de una agresión criminal en el mismo lapso. Este libro constituye un primer esfuerzo por estudiar el crimen y la violencia en Latinoamérica desde una perspectiva comparada, que reúne no sólo las experiencias de varios países sino también las enseñanzas y recomendaciones de varias disciplinas. El deseo es que este libro promueva el interés por el estudio de la violencia criminal en Latinoamérica. La importancia y la urgencia del tema así lo requieren.
