Abstract

La presente obra colectiva ha sido editada por el Programa Nacional INDES-Guatemala, en la cual se expresan múltiples voces de América Latina y la propia Guatemala, que se hicieron oír, en un primer momento, en el marco de un seminario internacional desarrollado en el mencionado país, en el mes de marzo de 2005. Hoy se difunden, a través de esta obra, para que en todos los países de la región se promuevan debates plurales, democráticos e incluyentes acerca de una cuestión central: Caminos por andar. Temas tan sustantivos como la ciudadanía en contextos de fuerte diversidad cultural, la integración comercial y sus impactos sociales, las complejas aristas del desarrollo rural, y las propias políticas de inclusión social, resultaron los ejes estructurantes de aquel encuentro y este libro. Se trata de problemáticas que no sólo afectan a la sociedad guatemalteca sino al conjunto de países latinoamericanos, todos ellos en la búsqueda incierta de un futuro sosteniblemente mejor para sus poblaciones.
