Abstract

IEl à ndice Global del Hambre (GHI) de este año muestra que el hambre global ha disminuido desde 1990 —pero no en forma dramática—y permanece en un nivel que se puede considerar como “serio†. Los puntajes del GHI varían ampliamente entre los diferentes países y regiones. Los mayores puntajes regionales en el GHI se obtuvieron en Asia Meridional y en el à frica Subsahariana. El GHI de Asia Meridional se redujo sustancialmente entre 1990 y 1996, pero este rápido progreso no pudo ser mantenido. Y aunque el à frica Subsahariana ha progresado menos que Asia Meridional después de 1990, desde el paso al nuevo milenio sus diferencias se han venido nivelando.
