Abstract

El envejecimiento de la población, debido principalmente al espectacular aumento en la esperanza de vida, amenaza la sostenibilidad financiera de los sistemas de pensiones de reparto implantados después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Muchos economistas, y la mayoría de las organizaciones internacionales, han propuesto medidas de reforma del sistema para mejorar su sostenibilidad en el largo plazo. Sin embargo, pocas reformas importantes se han llevado a cabo en Europa en la última década. España, donde, según las últimas proyecciones de la UE, el gasto podría aumentar hasta alcanzar el 15,7% del PIB en 2050, no ha sido una excepción.Esta obra facilita a los investigadores, responsables políticos y opinión pública en general una herramienta útil de reflexión acerca de cuestiones tan relevantes como la sostenibilidad financiera de los sistemas públicos de pensiones.
