Abstract

¿De qué manera se organizaron liberales y conservadores durante La República Liberal? ¿Cómo se disputaban el poder? ¿Cómo se relacionaron con las principales instituciones del país? ¿Cuál fue su papel en la construcción de la democracia y cuál en la Violencia que desangró al país a partir de la década de los 40? Este libro explora la trayectoria de los dos principales partidos políticos colombianos en un momento clave de su historia, los años durante esta época, período de construcción de la democracia, de modernización y de grandes cambios sociales y políticos, la República Liberal fue también la antesala de la Violencia. Un estudio con documentos y testimonios nunca antes explorados, que aporta a la reflexión crítica que hoy debe hacer el país sobre su evolución política.
