    Abstract

    Theodor Geiger ha sido justamente destacado por muchos eminentes estudiosos de la materia, entre los cuales es posible recordar a Renato Treves, Niklas Luhmann, Alberto Febbrajo, Paul Trappe y Manfred Rehbinder (quien cuidó una de las ediciones en idioma alemán), como uno de los mayores sociólogos del derecho, si bien, desafortunadamente, diversas razones hicieron que permaneciera desconocido casi en todas las latitudes. Sin embargo, todos coinciden en decir que Geiger sentó los fundamentos teóricos de una moderna sociología del derecho. Theodor Geiger (1891-1952) es un autor que no ha encontrado en la sociología del derecho italiana el lugar de relieve que merecería. Será suficiente decir que aún hoy en día no hay traducción y publicación de su obra principal, Vorstudien zu einer Soziologie des Rechts, divulgada por primera vez en danés en 1947; dicho trabajo del que se carece debería ser emprendido sin falta, con miras a colmar un vacío indudable. La presente publicación, dedicada a la memoria de Paul Trappe, desaparecido en el año 2005, que fuera el mayor estudioso de Geiger, tiene por objeto estimular la reflexión acerca de un autor que marcó profundamente la historia de la sociología del derecho y que hoy en día sigue teniendo gran actualidad.
