Compromisso de Santiago: Um instrumento regional para responder à crise da COVID-19 com igualdade de gênero

Abstract

No contexto atual de múltiplas crises por causa da pandemia de COVID-19 (doença causada pelo novo coronavírus), o Compromisso de Santiago, adotado pelos Estados membros da Comissão Econômica para a América Latina e o Caribe (CEPAL) na XIV Conferência Regional sobre a Mulher da América Latina e do Caribe em 2020, adquire especial relevância como ferramenta regional para abordar as causas estruturais da desigualdade de gênero e adotar políticas de resposta à pandemia no curto, médio e longo prazo. No Compromisso de Santiago os governos da região decidiram implementar políticas anticíclicas sensíveis às desigualdades de gênero para mitigar os efeitos das crises e recessões econômicas na vida das mulheres (parágrafo 24) e reafirmaram a necessidade de acelerar o passo na implementação da Declaração e Plataforma de Ação de Pequim e da Agenda Regional de Gênero, assumindo novos compromissos em temas inovadores e de vanguarda.
