Acercando el derecho a la salud a las personas mayores en el Distrito Federal de la Ciudad de México

Abstract

A pesar de que es un fenómeno mundial, y que tarde o temprano todos los países vivirán la transición demográfica, muchos de ellos aún no garantizan los derechos ni los servicios mínimos necesarios para la atención de las personas mayores. Los derechos a una vivienda, al agua potable y, de manera muy especial, a la salud y a la alimentación, son todavía una ilusión para millones de personas mayores que viven en la pobreza, que no tienen seguridad social o carecen de acceso a la atención sanitaria. El objetivo de este trabajo es describir las acciones que se han emprendido en el Distrito Federal de la Ciudad de México en esta materia para la atención urgente de este creciente grupo poblacional y sus resultados en el corto y el mediano plazo.
