Abstract

En esta sexta edición del documento “Perspectivas de la agricultura y del desarrollo rural en las Américas”, la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), la Oficina Regional para América Latina y el Caribe de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO) y el Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) analizan las tendencias y las perspectivas del contexto (macroeconómico y sectorial), la agricultura, el bienestar rural y las políticas e institucionalidad del sector. En el documento se presentan propuestas de políticas necesarias para devolver el dinamismo a la agricultura regional y para potenciar el desarrollo de los territorios rurales. Asimismo, se brindan recomendaciones para mitigar el impacto de la desaceleración económica en la agricultura, fomentar el incremento de la productividad agrícola de la región, promover el manejo integral de los recursos naturales y propiciar la inserción exitosa de los agricultores familiares, jóvenes y mujeres rurales en las cadenas de valor agrícola.
