Abstract

La presente edición del Estudio económico de América Latina y el Caribe, 2000-2001 corresponde al número 53 de esta serie e incorpora nuevos cambios de presentación, destinados a ampliar la cobertura del análisis regional y facilitar la lectura del documento. El Estudio se publica nuevamente en un solo volumen, en cuya primera parte se examinan los principales aspectos de la economía regional, mientras en la segunda se analiza la coyuntura de los países de América Latina y del Caribe. La primera parte, sobre la economía de la región, tiene una nueva estructura, más compacta, que se inicia con un capítulo dedicado a la situación en el primer semestre de 2001 y a las perspectivas para el conjunto del año. El análisis temático de la economía regional durante el 2000 ha sido reunido en tres capítulos, dedicados respectivamente al análisis de las políticas macroeconómicas y de las reformas, a la evolución de la economía interna y al sector externo. En la segunda parte se presentan reseñas sobre el desempeño durante el 2000, incluida información correspondiente a los primeros meses del 2001, de los veinte países de América Latina y del Caribe de habla inglesa.
