Abstract

"Este volumen recoge varios textos sobre la situación de la economía de la Nueva Granada en los años finales del periodo colonial. La economía no era todavía una disciplina independiente y estos documentos fueron escritos, como los de otros hacendistas españoles o americanos de la época, en cumplimiento de obligaciones burocráticas o como respuesta a preocupaciones prácticas. Esto no reduce su interés: al mismo tiempo que permiten obtener una imagen de los problemas reales que enfrentaban los comerciantes, agricultores, consumidores o funcionarios, preocupados por el abastecimiento de productos, los costos del comercio, el impacto de impuestos, monopolios y regulaciones, son textos en los que se presentan los primeros esfuerzos de análisis económico en nuestro país."
