Abstract

Hace un recuento histórico durante el período 1886 y 1945, del uso de papel moneda, la política monetaria, las reformas bancarias y la creación del sistema financiero colombiano. Analiza la intermediación financiera y los efectos de la política monetaria sobre el desarrollo económico del país. Describe la importancia de las funciones del Banco de la República como emisor y responsable de la política monetaria, además se hace un análisis del pensamiento económico de Edwin Walter Kemmerer.
