Abstract

Welche Bedeutung kommt subjektivem Wohlbefinden zur Beschreibung der Lebensqualität auf individueller Ebene und als Wohlstandsindikator auf gesellschaftlicher Ebene zu? Der Beitrag führt in das Thema ein und beschreibt Zusammenhänge zwischen dem subjektiven Wohlbefinden und demografischen Prozessen sowie Ereignissen wie Geburtenverhalten, internationale Migration und Altern aus der Perspektive internationaler Forschung. Neben seiner Bedeutung als Wohlstandsindikator dient das subjektive Wohlbefinden als Grundlage für eine evidenzbasierte Politik, die eine Sicherung des Wohlstands anstrebt. Dafür sind eine repräsentative und differenzierte Erfassung und Analyse subjektiver Wohlstandsindikatoren notwendig.
