Sterbefallzahlen und Übersterblichkeit während der Corona-Pandemie

Abstract

Seit Beginn der Corona-Pandemie steht in der öffentlichen Diskussion nicht nur die Entwicklung der COVID-19-Todesfälle im Fokus, sondern auch der Verlauf der Sterbefallzahlen insgesamt. Das Statistische Bundesamt hat seine aus Anlass der Corona-Pandemie aufgebaute Sonderauswertung der Sterbefallzahlen weiterentwickelt und ein Hochrechnungsverfahren eingeführt. Dadurch ist die Bereitstellung erster Ergebnisse zu dieser Thematik mittlerweile nach etwa einer Woche möglich. Der Artikel liefert Hintergrundinformationen zu diesem Hochrechnungsverfahren. Darüber hinaus wird die Entwicklung der Sterbefallzahlen bis zum Ende der 12. Kalenderwoche 2021 unter Berücksichtigung altersspezifischer und regionaler Aspekte analysiert.
