Abstract

Innovationen entstehen zunehmend durch vernetzte Forschung und Kooperationen, die über Unternehmens-, Branchen- und Ländergrenzen hinweg erfolgen. Standards können dazu einen wichtigen Beitrag leisten, indem sie einen reibungslosen Austausch von Daten ermöglichen und die Vernetzung unterschiedlichster Kooperationspartner fördern oder überhaupt erst möglich machen. Eine Analyse auf Basis der IW-Patentdatenbank zeigt darüber hinaus: Unternehmen, die den eCl@ss-Standard nutzen, sind hochinnovativ. An weit über der Hälfte der im Jahr 2016 von juristischen Personen in Deutschland angemeldeten Patente waren eCl@ss-Nutzer beteiligt. Besonders in den Digitalisierungstechnologien sind sie aktiv. In den innovativen Bundesländern Niedersachsen, Baden-Württemberg und Bayern werden die regionalen Patentaktivitäten besonders stark von eCl@ssNutzern angetrieben. Zudem sind sie deutschlandweit an über 85 Prozent der kooperativen Patentanmeldungen beteiligt. Das unterstreicht ihre besondere Fähigkeit, in unternehmensübergreifenden Netzwerken zu forschen und innovativ zu sein.
