Industrielle Arbeitskosten im internationalen Vergleich

Abstract

Die Arbeitskosten im Verarbeitenden Gewerbe Westdeutschlands betrugen im Jahr 2004 durchschnittlich 27,60 Euro je Arbeiterstunde. Damit wurde das Kostenniveau der westdeutschen Industrie nur von Dänemark übertroffen. Es lag insgesamt um 38 Prozent über dem Durchschnitt der Konkurrenzländer, wobei die neuen EUMitglieder noch nicht einbezogen sind. Gegenüber dem Jahr 2003 ist der westdeutsche Kostennachteil vor allem aufgrund des starken Euro um weitere 2 Prozentpunkte angewachsen. Besonders ungünstig schneidet Westdeutschland im internationalen Vergleich bei den Personalzusatzkosten ab. Sie erreichen hier zu Lande 79 Prozent des Direktentgelts. Es gibt zwar Länder mit höheren Zusatzkostenquoten, doch absolut betrachtet, trägt Westdeutschland mit mehr als 12 Euro die höchste Zusatzkostenlast. In Ostdeutschland kostete im vergangenen Jahr eine Arbeitsstunde mit über 17 Euro etwa so viel wie in Italien und Kanada.
