Umsatzrenditen, empirische Bestandsaufnahme und ökonometrische Ursachenanalyse für sechs Industrieländer

Abstract

Im Jahr 2000 erwirtschafteten deutsche Unternehmen Gewinne, die nach Steuern 2,4 Prozent ihres Umsatzes erreichten. Damit lagen sie in einem 18-Länder-Vergleich an viertschlechtester Stelle. Geringere Nettoumsatzrenditen gab es nur noch in Tschechien, Italien und Polen. Eine tiefer gehende Analyse zeigt, dass es innerhalb der einzelnen Länder ein erhebliches Gewinngefälle gibt. Mit Hilfe einer Regressionsrechnung können die Ursachen der unterschiedlichen Gewinn-Performance ausgemacht werden. Ein Sechs-Länder-Test zeigt für die zweite Hälfte der 90er-Jahre: Je höher die Produktivität, die Investitionsintensität und die Eigenkapitalausstattung einerseits und je niedriger die Arbeitskostenlast andererseits, umso besser waren die Renditen der beobachteten Unternehmen.
