Die Entwicklung des Euro-Außenwerts und der deutsche Außenhandel mit dem Dollarraum

Abstract

Für die deutschen Ausfuhren in die USA sind Konjunktureinflüsse wesentlich bedeutsamer als wechselkursbedingte Wettbewerbseffekte. Im Jahr 2000 sind die deutschen Lieferungen an die Vereinigten Staaten um 17 Prozent angestiegen. Hiervon gehen 14 Prozentpunkte auf den Konjunktureinfluss und lediglich 3 Punkte auf den Wettbewerbseffekt zurück. Die für dieses Jahr vermutete Wachstumsverlangsamung in den USA trübt somit die deutschen Exportperspektiven wesentlich nachhaltiger ein als die vielfach vermutete Aufwertung des Euro gegenüber dem Dollar. Vermutlich werden die deutschen Lieferungen an die USA in diesem Jahr nur noch um rund 5 Prozent zulegen. Dieses verminderte Absatz-Plus beim zweitwichtigsten Kunden der deutschen Exportwirtschaft dämpft hierzulande das Wirtschaftswachstum jedoch lediglich um 0,2 Prozentpunkte. Dies wird durch die infolge Beschäftigungsaufbau und Steuerreform belebte Inlandsnachfrage reichlich kompensiert.
