Indikatoren der nachhaltigen Entwicklung, Aussagekraft und Probleme

Abstract

Mit Hilfe von Ressourcenintensitäten kann nachgewiesen werden, dass sich in der deutschen Wirtschaft der Umwelt- und Materialverbrauch vom Wirtschaftswachstum abgekoppelt hat. Damit wird einem wichtigen Aspekt einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung entsprochen. Beispielsweise erreichte der relative Rohstoff- und Materialverbrauch 1999 mit knapp 447 Kilogramm je 1.000 DM reales Bruttoinlandsprodukt (BIP) einen bislang noch nicht erreichten Tiefstand. Seit 1960 hat er sich trotz des einigungsbedingten Niveausprungs fast halbiert. Im Energieverbrauch ist dieser Abkoppelungsprozess besonders ausgeprägt. Hier zählt Deutschland auch im internationalen Vergleich zu den Ländern mit überdurchschnittlich sinkenden Energieintensitäten.
