Im Fokus: Kurzarbeit – Retter in der Not?

Abstract

Die Zahl der Kurzarbeiter ist Ende des Jahres 2008 sprunghaft gestiegen. So nahm die Zahl der Kurzarbeiter von September bis Dezember 2008 um 220 000 Personen zu; im Jahr zuvor stieg sie im gleichen Zeitraum „nur“ um 44 000. Zwar ist ein nicht unbeträchtlicher Teil der starken Erhöhung auf saisonale Faktoren zurückzuführen. Bemerkenswert ist jedoch der kräftige Anstieg der konjunkturell bedingten Kurzarbeit: Im betrachteten Zeitraum nahm diese um 160 000 Personen zu, das sind fast drei Viertel des gesamten Zuwachses. Hingegen nahm sie im Vergleichszeitraum des Jahres 2007 um 10 000 Personen ab.
