Die Bevölkerungsentwicklung in Ostdeutschland bis zum Jahr 2010

Abstract

Seit 1989 hat sich die Einwohnerzahl in den neuen Ländern um weit über eine Million durch Abwanderungen verringert. Auch die Zahl der Geburten hat seit 1989 in großem Umfang abgenommen. Demzufolge muß für die Zukunft mit sinkenden Schülerzahlen und einem abnehmenden Bedarf an Schul- und Kindergartenplätzen gerechnet werden. Der seit 1995 eingetretene Anstieg der Geburtenzahlen läßt jedoch vermuten, daß die Talsohle durchschritten ist. Im Projektionszeitraum bis 2010 werden die Geburtenzahlen weiter ansteigen. Darüber hinaus ist zu erwarten, daß sich langfristig eine Angleichung zwischen den wesentlichen Bestimmungsfaktoren der ostdeutschen und der westdeutschen Bevölkerungsentwicklung einstellt.
