Kontrastreicher Aufwärtstrend der Unternehmen im ostdeutschen Verarbeitenden Gewerbe

Abstract

Die Ertragslage im ostdeutschen Verarbeitenden Gewerbe hat sich stetig verbessert und der Anteil von Verlustunternehmen sank lt. IWH-Industrieumfrage bis Ende 1997 auf weniger als ein Drittel. Die Fortschritte vollzogen sich bei großer Differenzierung zwischen den Unternehmen, die anhand der Ertrags-, Umsatz- und Beschäftigungsentwicklung in vier Gruppen eingeordnet werden können: Gewinner, Aufsteiger, Nachzügler und Verlierer. Unter Berücksichtigung weiterer Indikatoren wie Innovationstätigkeit und Marketing zeichnen sich die Gewinner vor allem durch Umsatzzuwachs und umfangreiche Marketingaktivitäten aus, während die Verlierer hohe Personalkosten sowie Defizite beim Marketing und bei der Innovationstätigkeit aufweisen.
