Aktuelle Trends: Wanderungsverluste Ostdeutschlands gegenüber dem Westen stark rückläufig – deutliche Wanderungsgewinne gegenüber dem Ausland

Abstract

Die hohen Wanderungsverluste haben in Ostdeutschland in erheblichem Maß zum Bevölkerungsschwund beigetragen. Dabei sind vor allem jüngere, qualifizierte Menschen abgewandert, darunter überproportional viele Frauen. Seit dem Jahr 2012 scheint sich die Lage etwas aufzuhellen: Die Zahl der Zuwanderer überstieg im Jahr 2012 die Zahl der Abwanderer um ca. 10 000 Personen, 2013 waren es bereits 26 000 Personen. Das letzte Mal hatte es im Jahr 1997 einen Wanderungsüberschuss gegeben. Gegenüber dem Ausland ist der Saldo bereits seit 2010 positiv. Im Jahr 2013 lag dieser bei ca. 33 000 Personen und dürfte danach weiter deutlich zugenommen haben. So sind in den ersten elf Monaten des Jahres 2014 – neuere Daten liegen noch nicht vor – 49 000 Personen mehr aus dem Ausland zugewandert als abgewandert.
