Abstract

This document makes a descriptive analysis of the business landscape of Ecuador in 2018. This, in order to understand how companies were prepared to face a situation such as COVID-19 arrived in the country. For this estimate, indicators such as the number of days that Ecuadorian companies could endure without the entry of cash are calculated. The results show that there is heterogeneity between sectors and between companies. In this sense, it is shown that micro-enterprises have less capacity to face a sudden stop in their income. Access to the external sector is also important so that firms have longer days of support with respect to local companies.,
