Abstract

Neben der abklingenden Energiekrise prägten 2023 weiterhin geopolitische Verwerfungen die Entwicklung der Weltwirtschaft. Regional verlief die Konjunktur heterogen. Unter den Industrieländern verzeichneten die USA ein kräftiges Wirtschaftswachstum. Die westeuropäischen Volkswirtschaften entwickelten sich hingegen schwach, einige erlebten sogar eine Rezession. Dies gilt auch für Österreich, im produzierenden Bereich und einigen Dienstleistungsbereichen ging die Wertschöpfung zurück. Die Teuerung belastete die Kaufkraft der privaten Haushalte, sodass auch die Konsumnachfrage rückläufig war. Durch den Anstieg der Verbraucherpreise stagnierten die realen Bruttolöhne und -gehälter, während die Nettolöhne und -gehälter pro Kopf aufgrund der staatlichen Unterstützungsmaßnahmen leicht gestiegen sein dürften. Der Preisauftrieb blieb mit 7,8% das zweite Jahr in Folge sehr lebhaft.
