Rohölpreishausse beschleunigt Inflation und dämpft Wirtschaftswachstum. Prognose für 2008 und 2009

Abstract

Im I. Quartal 2008 wuchs die heimische Wirtschaft kräftig. Vor allem die Sachgütererzeugung, die Bauwirtschaft und der Tourismus verzeichneten eine gute Auslastung. Deshalb dürfte das BIP im Jahr 2008 mit real +2,3% etwas stärker zunehmen als noch im Frühjahr erwartet. Dennoch geht das WIFO von einem Konjukturabschwung aus, der durch mehrere die Nachfrage belastende Faktoren ausgelöst wird: Die anhaltende Stagnation in den USA, die Folgen der Aufwertung des Euro und die ungünstigeren Kreditbedingungen wurden in den letzten Monaten durch den markanten Auftrieb der Rohölpreise auf den Weltmärkten ergänzt. Dies treibt die Inflation nach oben (2008 +3,5%) und schmälert die real verfügbaren Einkommen und die Konsumnachfrage der privaten Haushalte. Die heimische Wirtschaft wird deshalb 2009 real um nur noch 1,4% expandieren. Die Abschwächung des Wirtschaftswachstums wird auch eine Trendumkehr auf dem Arbeitsmarkt bewirken: Während die Beschäftigung heuer noch kräftig zunimmt, ist für 2009 bereits wieder ein Anstieg der Arbeitslosigkeit zu erwarten.
