Ausgezeichnete Industriekonjunktur und starker Beschäftigungsanstieg. Prognose für 1998 und 1999

Abstract

1998 prägt das hohe Wachstum des Warenexports und der Ausrüstungsinvestitionen den Konjunkturverlauf. Die österreichische Wirtschaft wächst real um 3%. Die kräftige Beschäftigungsausweitung und eine allmähliche Erholung der Einkommen verleihen dem privaten Konsum zunehmende Dynamik. Hingegen werden die Bauinvestitionen – vor allem aufgrund des rückläufigen Wohnungsbaus – nur unterdurchschnittlich gesteigert. 1999 könnte die Konjunktur mit einem Wirtschaftswachstum von 3,2% einen vorläufigen Höhepunkt erreichen. Die starke Zunahme von BIP und Beschäftigung bewirkt dann auch einen Rückgang der Arbeitslosigkeit. Die Inflation bleibt mit 1,2% (1998) bzw. 1½% (1999) sehr niedrig. Das Defizit der Leistungsbilanz stabilisiert sich bei 1,4% des BIP, jenes der öffentlichen Haushalte bei 2,4% des BIP.
