Kräftiger Beschäftigungszuwachs und steigende Arbeitslosigkeit

Abstract

Die wichtigsten Konjunkturimpulse kommen weiterhin vom Warenexport, der mit zweistelligen Raten expandiert und eine erhebliche Produktionsausweitung in der Industrie ermöglicht. Alle Indikatoren deuten auf eine Fortsetzung des exportgetragenen Aufschwungs hin. Allmählich erholt sich auch die Binnennachfrage. Von Einzelhandel und Tourismus kamen im IV. Quartal 1997 positive Signale, die Produktion in der Bauwirtschaft verlief 1997 weniger gedämpft, als ursprünglich erwartet. Bei weiterhin stabilem Preisniveau wurde die Beschäftigung zu Jahresbeginn 1998 kräftig ausgeweitet. Der Abbau von Arbeitsplätzen in der Sachgütererzeugung wurde beendet, wirtschaftsnahe Dienstleistungen und der öffentliche Sektor stellen zusätzliche Arbeitskräfte ein. Die Arbeitslosigkeit sinkt – bedingt durch institutionelle Faktoren – dennoch nicht.
