Abstract

Seit Anfang der neunziger Jahre wurde der direkte Staatsbesitz wie der öffentliche Einfluß im österreichischen Bankenwesen signifikant reduziert. Die Eigentümerstruktur des österreichischen Bankensystems ist seither in einer grundlegenden Neuordnung begriffen. Mit der Liberalisierung des Kapitalverkehrs und der Teilnahme Österreichs am EWR haben sich die Voraussetzungen für den Marktzugang ausländischer Banken grundlegend geändert.
