Trotz günstiger Konsumentwicklung mäßige Steigerung der Einzelhandelsumsätze. Weihnachtsgeschäft eher flau

Abstract

Der Konsum der privaten Haushalte war im 1. Halbjahr 1995 bei leichtem Rückgang der Sparquote real um 2,4% höher als im Vorjahr. Besonders stark stiegen die Ausgaben der Österreicher im Ausland, vor allem wegen vermehrter Direktimporte. Die geringe Zunahme der Ausgaben der Österreicher im Inland und der schwache Tourismus dämpften den Geschäftsgang des Einzelhandels (+0,2%); der Großhandel (+1,6%) profitierte stärker vom Konjunkturaufschwung. Der verstärkte Wettbewerbsdruck im Gefolge des EU-Beitritts ließ nur mäßige Preissteigerungen zu, erhöhte die Produktivität, hatte zusammen mit dem Ausgleich der Konsum-Genossenschaft ein Beschäftigungsrückgang zur Folge. Im Weihnachtsgeschäft des Einzelhandels sind heuer nur dann leichte reale Zuwächse zu erwarten, wenn das Umsatzpotential des Offenhaltens der Geschäfte am 8. Dezember weitgehend ausgeschöpft werden kann.
