Zunehmende Wirtschaftsverflechtung Österreichs mit Osteuropa. Österreichs Osthandel 1993/94

Abstract

Die Oststaaten waren 1993 eine der wenigen Regionen, in denen ein Exportzuwachs erreicht werden konnte. Während die Gesamtexporte um 4% schrumpften, nahmen die Ostexporte um 5% zu. 1994 hat sich die Dynamik des Ostexports verstärkt. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Industriestaaten verlor allerdings Österreich 1993 in den Oststaaten Marktanteile im Ausmaß von etwa 6%. Der Bestand an österreichischen Direktinvestitionen im Osten erreichte Ende 1992 12,5 Mrd. S, Mitte 1994 20 Mrd. S. Das wichtigste Zielland für Direktinvestitionen im Osten ist Ungarn. Österreich wird in Zukunft seine Mittlerrolle zwischen Ost und West nur dann behalten können, wenn neue Standortattraktivitäten aufgebaut werden. Ein vielversprechender Ansatz ist der Ausbau von Niederlassungen österreichischer Banken, produktionsnaher Dienstleistungen und des Handels in den benachbarten Oststaaten, wodurch in Österreich ein leistungsfähiges Angebot an Informations- und Vermittlungsdiensten geschaffen wird.
