Industrierohstoffpreise sinken 1993. Entwicklung und Prognose der Weltmarktpreise von Industrierohstoffen

Abstract

Die Prognose der Industrierohstoffpreise rechnet für 1993 mit einer Verbilligung auf Dollarbasis um 8%: Die Preise sind seit Ende 1992 eingebrochen. Besonders betroffen sind Schnittholz (1993 –27%) und Wolle – hier konnte die geplante Produktionskürzung in Australien nicht mit der schwachen Nachfrage Schritt halten (1993 –17%). Auch die Märkte aller NE-Metalle sind durch Preisrückgänge gekennzeichnet, zur allgemein flauen Nachfrage in den westlichen Ländern und teilweise nicht verwirklichten Kapazitätsreduktionen kommen Nettoexporte aus den Oststaaten hinzu. Einen bedeutenden Anteil am Verbrauch der westlichen Länder haben jedoch nur die Ostimporte an Nickel (15% bis 20%; Kupfer etwa 6%, Aluminium und Zink jeweils 5%, Blei 3%). Im IV. Quartal 1992 fielen die österreichischen Importpreise von Industrierohstoffen unter das Niveau von 1975: Im I. Quartal 1993 blieben sie um 6% (WIFO-Index I) bzw. 8% (WIFO-Index II) darunter. Besonders billig sind agrarische Industrierohstoffe (–11% bzw. –13% gegenüber 1975).
