Die Beschleunigung der Inflation im Jahr 1992

Abstract

Die Beschleunigung des Preisauftriebs in den OECD-Ländern seit Mitte 1988 veranlaßte die Geldpolitik einer Reihe von Ländern zu einem restriktiven Kurs. Rückläufige Rohstoffpreise sowie eine Verlangsamung des Lohnwachstums ließen in den meisten Ländern die Inflation in den letzten zwei Jahren zurückgehen. Dagegen beschleunigte sich, zum Teil infolge einer Sonderkonjunktur, das Lohnwachstum in Westdeutschland und Österreich bis 1991 und damit auch die Teuerung. Zur Inflationsbeschleunigung trug überdies die Anhebung von Verbrauchsteuern bei. 1992 erreichte die Inflationsrate dieser beiden Länder, die jahrelang ein hohes Maß an Preisstabilität aufgewiesen hatten, knapp den Durchschnitt der OECD-Länder.
