Abstract

Die Ausgeglichenheit der Nachfragekomponenten aus dem Inland wie aus dem Ausland über den größten Teil der achtziger Jahre bewirkte auch eine relativ gleichmäßige Dynamik der Wirtschaft in den einzelnen Bundesländern. 1988 und 1989 aber wurden die Unterschiede wieder deutlicher: Die starke Ausrichtung auf die Nachfrage aus der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und aus anderen europäischen Ländern begünstigte die westlichen Bundesländer, während etwa die Wirtschaft Wiens im Wachstum zurückblieb. Nicht zuletzt dürfte Niederösterreich Marktanteile auf Kosten Wiens gewonnen haben. Die Wirtschaft der Steiermark hat den Höhepunkt ihrer Strukturkrise offenbar überwunden.
