Zinsdifferentiale und Wechselkurserwartungen auf dem Geld- und Kapitalmarkt

Abstract

Die Währungsbehörden lassen den Schilling-DM-Kurs nur sehr wenig schwanken. Die "Credibility" dieser Wechselkurspolitik auf den Finanzmärkten kann unter gewissen Annahmen anhand von nominellen Zinsdifferenzen zwischen Österreich und Deutschland gemessen werden. Die Analyse von Zinssätzen bzw. Renditen mit Fristigkeiten von einem Monat bis zu zehn Jahren kann "Glaubwürdigkeit" bzw. Wechselkurserwartungen über diese Zeithorizonte anzeigen. Sie hat auf dem Geldmarkt seit 1988, auf dem Rentenmarkt seit 1989 zugenommen. Die untersuchten Daten zeigen keine Realzinskonvergenz zwischen Österreich und Deutschland; Komponenten des Realzinsdifferentials weisen auf nicht vollständig integrierte Kapital- und Gütermärkte hin.
