Sustainable Development Of Transport Within The European Union

Abstract

The present work sets as its aim to examine the theoretical and methodological foun-dations of sustainable transport as part of the sixth wave of innovation and -based on an anal-ysis of its development within the borders of the European Union -to reveal certain key trends. The sustainable aspects of transport are considered in theoretical aspect from the point of view of the industrial revolution, specifically, the focus of attention is on the sixth innova-tion wave. The methodology of research is based on the framework indicators of sustainable development of freight and passenger transport, systematized by Eurostat. Analytical process-es follow strictly the methodology and localize some key trends in the sustainable develop-ment of transport within the European Union, outlined for the period 2007 -2015/2017.
