Abstract

The positive correlation between innovation and competitiveness has been proved both at micro and macro levels. In addition, innovation activity and investments in research and development activities are considered as a basic prerequisite for the creation and implementation of innovative products, services, processes and solutions. Therefore, stimulating and increasing both the innovation activity, as well as the R&D intensity of the Republic of Bulgaria, is very important for the country's long-term competitiveness. In this regard, the author conducts research on the dynamics of the innovation activity of the Republic of Bulgaria in the period from 2011 to 2022. Comparison of the performance of the country based on this indicator with the results that other EU member states reach in the same period is made.
