Du DM à l’Euro

Abstract

Le remplacement de douze monnaies nationales par l’Euro en janvier 2002 est un événement considérable, sans précédent dans l’Histoire. Pourtant trois Etats de l’Union Européenne avaient déjà expérimenté, au cours des cinquante dernières années, des changements d’unités monétaires : l’Allemagne en 1948 avec la création du Deutsche Mark, la France en 1958 avec la création du Nouveau Franc , et le Royaume-Uni en 1971 avec la Livre décimale. Malgré les différences de circonstances, chacune de ces expériences peut nous fournir des enseignements utiles notamment sur la période transition et le taux de conversion.
