Abstract

Les responsables de la zone euro ont choisi de répondre à la crise par des politiques déflationnistes et des cures d’austérités. Ces erreurs d’appréciation ont conduit à amplifier les problèmes. La bonne solution aurait dû être une stimulation par la demande. Cette dénonciation radicale n’émane pas d’un représentant de la gauche extrême, mais d’un ancien conseiller économique du Président de la Commission, Philippe Legrain (fonction occupée de février 2011 à février 2014). L’auteur, qui semble ne pas avoir été beaucoup écouté, est actuellement Senior Visiting Fellow à la London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Ses propos, et quelques autres tout aussi décapants, ont été tenus le 9 mars 2015 dans EUROPP-European Politics and Policy, le journal en ligne de la LSE. Selon lui, la zone euro est devenue une prison modèle pour les Etats débiteurs. Mais il est grand temps d’en sortir. Merci à Philippe Legrain de nous permettre de reprendre ses propos.
