Abstract

This investigation tries to generate an environmental index of the autonomous decentralized provincial governments (GAD) of the Ecuador in the year 2013. The methodology is based on the systematizing of environmental components, there have been built three components (expenditure on environmental protection, environmental management and environmental behavior) based on information provided by the database of the Census of Environmental Economic Information in Autonomous Decentralized Provincial Governments 2013 and secondary information of studies to evaluate the management on environmental. The results show an acceptable level in the components expenditure on environmental protection and in the component of environmental management, whereas the component of environmental behavior the Provincial Governments show a low management.
