Redistribution effects of public expenditures in Venezuela

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo consiste en analizar la tendencia de los diferentes tipos de gasto público realizados por el Estado venezolano durante el período 1970-1985, los cuales, lógicamente, tienen una incidencia muy variada sobre la distribución del ingreso. En primer lugar, se recurre a la revisión de la literatura acerca del gasto público como un instrumento de redistribución del ingreso. Finalmente, se describe en una forma sintética cual ha sido el papel del Estado venezolano en la economía nacional y el efecto redistribuido del gasto.
