Efectos de las variaciones económicas en la fecundidad: Chile 1952-1972

Abstract

En Chile durante los últimos años se han producido cambios significativos en la situación demográfica, básicamente en lo que se refiere a los niveles de fecundidad y de mortalidad de menores. La tasa de nacimiento se ha reducido de 34 por mil habitantes en 1950 a 26,8 por mil habitantes en 1970, y a cerca de 24 por mil habitantes en 1979. Lo mismo ha ocurrido con la tasa de mortalidad infantil. Esta fue de 139,4 muertes por cada 1.000 niños nacidos vivos en 1950, y se redujo a 82.2 muertes en 1970, y a 56 muertes aproximadamente en 1979.
