Abstract

El tema que se examinará es el proceso de ajuste en los casos de desequilibrio de la Balanza de Pagos. Con un especial énfasis en el papel que le cabe a la política cambiaria. El tratamiento no será exhaustivo sino se limitará a efectuar una serie de precisiones de carácter fundamentalmente didáctico y a resaltar las peculiaridades que tiene el proceso de ajuste de un desequilibrio en un país insuficientemente didáctico y a resaltar las peculiaridades que tiene el proceso de ajuste de un desequilibrio en un país insuficientemente desarrollado como Chile, a diferencia de las políticas que tradicionalmente se han seguido en las naciones industrializadas. La experiencia chilena, como es conocida, se basa en la "prueba " de la casi totalidad de los diferentes regímenes cambiarios y de comercio exterior existentes, aunque con un éxito muy variado.
