¿Se benefician los trabajadores del sector informal de disminuciones en el salario mínimo?

Abstract

Depende. El punto de vista standard en economía es el siguiente: reducciones en el salario mínimo aumentan el empleo en el sector formal, reduciendo de este modo la oferta efectiva del trabajo en el sector informal y aumentando el ingreso de los trabajadores en dicho sector. Pero en un modelo más complejo, reducciones en el salario mínimo no siempre mejora el estándar de vida en el sector informal.
